There is a world of people who suffer in silence. They themselves are not silent, but there is silence in the backs that are turned against them, the people who make fun of them, and those who deny they exist. The people who suffer from Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy often suffer in silence, and that silence needs to be stopped. That's why in Fighting "4" Us, it is time for a change. As the director of Fighting "4" Us, I find that even after all this work, I too have been silent. Even as an RSDer, my website and I were silent in denying the fact that RSD affects all part of a person's life. As an organization we have come to recognize that RSD does not simply affect a person physically. RSD is a disease that not only affects every part of who the person is in themselves, but also has great effect on their loved ones and really all of the people around them. Yet that is not apparent in our website and the style in which we have been working. So, we are going to change all of that.
Of course, we will keep the articles on the website that discuss the physical aspects of RSD. We can not deny that half of the story just as we can't deny the other. Instead, we are going to be adding articles regarding the how RSD effects the emotional, spiritual, and intellectual side of a person. There will also be articles from different members of the organization discussing how they as loved ones of the person who has RSD feels.
Finally, we will begin to talk about the Fighting "4" Us dream: to create a comprehensive non-profit organization that helps RSDers in all aspects of their lives. Not just a web-page, but a group that includes a staff and groups that are local to your area so that you may contact someone at Fighting "4" Us whenever you have a question or concern.
Fighting "4" Us started with one goal: to help fight this beast called RSD and win. As executive director and founder of this organization I believe that goal is possible. As we take this next step towards that goal remember: we take these steps together, all of us, Fighting "4" Us. If you go to the about us section, you will find an article that details the work that I believe needs to be done to make this dream a reality.
